Ah yes, a 1980s horror film with fake blood and crappy CGI. It's the stuff that dreams (or nightmares) are made of. So first off, everyone is this movie is completely and utterly unlikeable, but at least you don't figure it out until towards the end. I can't figure out where it's set, because some people have British accents and some have American accents. I looked it up, and I know it's not set in the UK because apparently someone told the director that he had to Americanize the movie or it wouldn't sell in the US (even though it's a British horror movie. Go figure). This is the kind of movie that you will only enjoy if you're like me and love a good, terrible movie. The script is bad, the acting is bad, and the effects are bad. And the dude on the cover of the DVD, Pinhead, is in the movie for a sum total of 7 minutes, so I don't know WHY they decided to put HIM on the cover. Because he's spooky? Idk. My friend told me he and the other Cenobites (the creepy antagonists of the movie-although it's really debatable who the actual antagonist(s) are in this one) get more screen time in the sequel. Good. In summary, every single character in this movie is selfish as heck, there's not a lot of character developement, and the weird magical lights in the movie remind me of the CGI in Something Wicked This Way Comes. Classic movie, maybe a little campy, and overall satisfying if you like that kind of thing. Little gory, not too scary.
